Port Ellen 37 Year Old is the 16th Release from the Islay distillery, in a 70cl bottle at 55.2% ABV. It was distilled in 1978 and bottled by Diageo in 2016, as a limited edition.
The whisky was matured in refill American oak hogsheads and European oak butts.
Tasting notes describe green apple and blackcurrant with a trace of smoky oak on the nose, honeyed apricot, dark cherry and a hint of gingerbread on the palate, and a finish of spiced plum with charred oak.
