Port Ellen – 5th Release 1979 25 Year Old (57.4%)

This is the fifth release of Port Ellen, an Islay single malt distilled in 1979 and bottled in 2005 at 57.4% after 25 years in cask. Port Ellen was founded on the south coast of Islay in 1825. The distillery closed at the end of 1983, and this whisky was distilled in the years after it reopened in 1966-67. Its large drum maltings, built in 1973, still supplies malt to the distilleries of Islay.
