Porto Cruz 10 Year Old is a fortified wine from Portugal's Douro valley, supplied in a wooden case. The blend is drawn from selected grapes grown on the valley's schistous soils. After fermentation under temperature control, the wine ages in oak barrels for ten years.
It is deep amber with coppery highlights. The nose shows ripe plums and raisins, with chocolate, walnut and a light touch of spice. The palate is rich and velvety, with sweetness balanced by acidity.
Serve it slightly cool, at around 12 to 16°C, with desserts or blue cheeses, or on its own.
