A tawny port from the Douro in Portugal, in a 100cl bottle. It is made from the native varieties Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela and Touriga Francesa.
After fermentation the wine is aged in oak casks, which give it its amber colour and soft texture. In the glass it is warm and bright, with orange glints.
The nose shows walnuts and almonds with sweet spice, and a light trace of vanilla and cocoa from the wood. The palate is rich and velvety, with sweetness balanced by acidity. The finish is persistent, with echoes of cooked fruit and a little chocolate.
