Niepoort Porto Tawny Invecchiato 4 Anni is a Portuguese fortified wine aged for four years in oak barrels. It has a characteristic copper colour and developed aromatic complexity. The nose shows enveloping notes of dried fruit such as nuts and almonds, with mature fruit such as apricot and plum, lightly caramelised, plus sweet spices including cinnamon and vanilla. On the palate it is soft but structured, balancing fruit sweetness with refreshing acidity, with cooked fruit and toast flavours and a persistent finish with a slight bitter chocolate note. Served slightly chilled, it suits aperitifs, hard cheeses, chocolate or dried-fruit desserts, or the end of a meal.
