John Powers Gold Label is an Irish whiskey bottled at 40% ABV and produced at Midleton Distillery in County Cork. The Powers name goes back to 1791, when the Powers family began distilling in Dublin.
Gold Label draws on older, more mature stocks and leans on the creamy, spicy character of pot still whiskey.
The nose has apple, pear, honeycomb, vanilla and toasted oak, with a little nutmeg. The palate is medium-bodied, with honeyed pear, baked apple and a gentle pot still pepperiness. The finish is warm, with honey and orchard fruit and a clean, slightly dry close.
