Powers Gold Label is a triple-distilled Irish blend of pot still and grain whiskeys, made at Midleton Distillery in County Cork. It comes in a 750ml bottle at 43.2% ABV.
The pot still element is made from malted and unmalted barley and blended with lighter column-distilled grain whiskey. Powers is known for making tighter cuts during distillation, discarding more of the heads and tails to keep the heart of the spirit. James Power founded the brand's original distillery in Dublin in 1791.
The nose shows cinnamon bark, clove oil, white pepper, russet apple and ripe pear. The palate brings honey, vanilla and cinnamon spice, then toasted oak and baked orchard fruit. The finish is long and warming, with baking spice and dried fruit.
