Powers Irish Rye Whiskey

Powers Irish Rye is an Irish whiskey made from a mash of 100% Irish rye and matured in seasoned American oak casks. It is a new Powers expression, tested in the 1800s and perfected in the 2020s. The peppery character of rye is balanced against the sweetness from the oak. The nose brings burnt orange, maraschino cherries, toffee banana, fresh rye bread and charred oak, with clove, white pepper and ginger. On the palate there is candied ginger with orange peel, clove and peppermint, then caramelised apples, brown sugar and red liquorice. The finish is long, with a prickle of chilli oil, honey-glazed fruit and cereal.
