Powers John's Lane Release 12 Year Old Irish Whiskey (75cl, 46%)

Powers John's Lane Release is a 12 year old single pot still Irish whiskey, made at Midleton Distillery in County Cork by Irish Distillers. It is triple distilled in copper pot stills from malted and unmalted barley, and bottled at 46% without chill filtration. Maturation is mainly in first-fill American bourbon casks, with a small contribution of whiskey from Oloroso sherry butts. The release celebrates the style of the original John's Lane distillery in Dublin, founded by James Power in 1791. The nose is earthy, with leather, tobacco, charred wood, dark chocolate and treacle toffee. The palate opens full-bodied and spicy before vanilla, honey and dried apricot come through, and the finish is a lingering honey sweetness on toasted oak.
