Powers Three Swallow is a triple-distilled Irish single pot still whiskey from Midleton Distillery in County Cork, bottled at 43.2% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is made from malted and unmalted barley. The whiskey is matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in oloroso sherry casks. The Powers name goes back to 1791, when James Power founded his distillery in Dublin, and the three swallows of the name come from the family crest. The nose is pot still spice, raw barley and herbs, with green banana, grapefruit and marzipan. On the palate, barley sweetness gives way to green apple and citrus. The finish is medium to long, spicy and cereal-led, with toasted oak and a little sherry.
