A Barbera d'Alba Superiore from Fratelli Alessandria, vintage 2022. It shows a deep ruby colour with violet reflections, opening on ripe red fruit, cherry and a hint of plum, with light sweet spice and a balsamic note. The palate has medium-full body, good juiciness and savouriness, with controlled tannins and typical Barbera acidity. The finish is persistent and clean, with a slight bitter note reminiscent of preserved fruit. It suits roast and braised meats, structured ragù and medium-aged cheeses, and may be lightly aerated before serving. Serve at 16-18°C.
