This is a 12-year-old straight Tennessee bourbon from the Puncher's Chance brand of Wolf Spirit, sourced from the IJW Whiskey Company in Louisville, Kentucky. It is the brand's first limited release, drawn from 70 barrels and bottled at 48% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
The whiskey was aged in traditional stone and wood rickhouses, then finished for two months in French-oak California Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. The name is a double meaning: twelve years of age and the twelve rounds of a championship boxing match.
The nose is vanilla, dark cherry and toasted oak, with clove, cinnamon and chai-like spice. Caramel and vanilla lead the palate into ripe cherry, leather and a touch of chocolate. The finish is long, fruity, warm, sweet and viscous.
