Quinta do Noval Colheita 2005

This is a 2005 Colheita port from Quinta do Noval, an estate in the Cima Corgo, one of the three parts of the Douro valley. The name of the quinta was first recorded in 1715. Noval owns 210 hectares, 145 of them planted with vines in a large amphitheatre looking down towards Pinhão and the Douro river. The grapes are trodden by foot in large tanks, and the wines are then aged in cask in cellars beneath the vineyards, where fermentation, ageing and bottling all take place on the estate.
