Quinta do Noval Fine White Port

Fine White is a white port from Quinta do Noval, made from grapes grown by long-standing suppliers in the upper reaches of the Douro. Half the fruit is macerated briefly in stainless steel. The wine is a blend: 60 per cent is aged for at least two years in large oak barrels, and the rest is kept in steel only. It is less dry than the house Extra Dry, and works as a chilled aperitif, with tonic water, or alongside strongly flavoured cheeses. Pineapple, apricot, citrus honey, yellow roses, vanilla, toasted hazelnut and cinnamon lead the nose. The palate is off-dry, warm and soft, kept lively by a fresh, savoury streak.
