Raasay – Core Release Batch R-01 (Limited Edition) (46.4%)

This is the first signature single malt from the Isle of Raasay distillery, following its inaugural release. It combines peated and unpeated Raasay malt, matured in three types of cask: first-fill rye whiskey casks, virgin chinkapin oak casks and first-fill Bordeaux red wine casks. Batch R-01 is limited to 26,000 bottles and is bottled at 46.4% ABV, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The bottle has its own shape, with the landscape of the small island worked into the design. It is described as having depth and complexity, with apricot, cherry, fine wood smoke and a pronounced sweetness.
