An Italian amaro from Lombardy, created in 1845 by Carlo Zucca in Milan. Rhubarb root is the principal ingredient, macerated and gently distilled with a blend of herbs and spices. It has a light amber colour. On the nose there are alpine herb notes and a subtle citrus trace. On the palate it is balanced, with a sweet start that gradually gives way to a bitter, persistently aromatic finish. Serve cold or with ice, after a meal or in cocktails.
