Rabbit Hole Heigold is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Louisville, bottled at 47.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The mash bill is 70% corn, 25% malted rye and 5% malted barley, with the rye imported from Germany. It goes into toasted and charred American white oak from Kelvin Cooperage at 110 proof. The name honours Christian Heigold, a German immigrant stonecutter who settled in Louisville in the 1840s and carved patriotic symbols and family likenesses into the facade of his home, now a local landmark. Toasted malt and warm baking spices come through on the nose, with silky butterscotch and bright citrus on the palate, and a finish that builds to pepper spice.
