Rabbit Hole Heigold is a high rye straight bourbon bottled at 47.5% ABV. The mash is 70% corn, 25% malted rye and 5% malted barley, with the rye imported from Germany.
It was aged for just under four years in toasted and charred new oak barrels. The name honours Christian Heigold, a German stonecutter who settled in Louisville and decorated his home in The Point neighbourhood with patriotic carvings.
Butterscotch and toasted malt come first, then a burst of fresh citrus, and the finish carries a comforting pepper spice.
