Ramos Pinto Quinta do Bom Retiro Vintage 2018 Port

This is a 2018 Vintage Port from Ramos Pinto's Quinta do Bom Retiro in the Douro. The quinta makes its Vintage Port only in exceptional years, from the best plots on the estate. Of its 110 hectares, 64 are planted to vines with an average age of 40 years. Bom Retiro was the first of the house's quintas to use new planting methods suited to the Douro. Its vineyards include pre-phylloxera stone terraces, patamares and, for the first time in the Douro, mechanisable vertical plantings. The 2018 growing season began with a cold, dry winter and cool spring showers. A very hot, dry August and September then brought the grapes to full ripeness.
