Ramos Pinto Tawny Port

A tawny port from Ramos Pinto, matured for around three years in smaller casks than the large oak vats used for ruby. The smaller casks allow more oxidation, so the port ages faster and ends up lighter and warmer in flavour. The colour is red with orange and brownish tones. The nose combines dried fruit, nuts, orange, prunes, raspberry and blackberry. The palate is velvety yet crisp, with a good balance between roundness and freshness. It suits an aperitif, perhaps with salted crackers or nuts, and goes with melon, nut or chocolate cakes, honey cake and blue cheese.
