This is a 10 year old Campbeltown blended malt, bottled by Rare Find from a single refill hogshead, cask 1266. The cask produced 303 bottles at 56.7%, in a 70cl bottle.
The refill hogshead keeps the influence of the wood fairly restrained, so the oily texture and coastal Campbeltown character come through. Green apple, malt, brioche, hay, liquorice and gentle smoke feature in its character.
The nose is earthy and malty, with brioche, hay, stewed apple and a little honey. The palate is oily and full, with dry smoke, liquorice and malt cake sweetness. The finish is persistent and slightly dry, with green apple and malty biscuit.
