Red Spot Single Pot Still Irish Whisky (70cl, 46%)

Red Spot is a single pot still Irish whisky, matured for 15 years in American bourbon barrels, Spanish sherry butts and Sicilian Marsala wine casks, and bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is made at Midleton Distillery in County Cork from a mash of malted and unmalted barley, distilled in copper pot stills. The name revives a Mitchell family recipe from the early twentieth century. The family marked casks with a dab of coloured paint, and red signified 15 years of maturation. The nose has red berries, toasted oak, exotic spices and vanilla. The palate brings stewed fruit, honey, candied orange, toasted almonds and baking spices, followed by a long fruit-and-spice finish.
