Redbreast 12 Year Old is a single pot still Irish whiskey from the Midleton Distillery in County Cork, bottled at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled in copper pot stills.
It is matured in a combination of bourbon-seasoned American oak barrels and Oloroso sherry-seasoned Spanish oak butts. The strong sherry-cask contribution gives it a Christmas-cake character.
The nose is spicy and fruity, with toasted wood. The palate is full-flavoured and silky, balancing spice, cream, fruit, sherry and toasted notes, and the finish is long as the flavours linger.
