Redbreast 21 Year is a single pot still Irish whiskey from Midleton Distillery in County Cork, bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is made from malted and unmalted barley and triple-distilled in copper pot stills.
It draws on all three Midleton distillate styles, light, medium and robust, and is matured for a minimum of 21 years in American bourbon barrels and first-fill Spanish oloroso sherry butts.
The nose is fresh pear and honeydew melon, then dried fruit and toasted nuts. The palate is creamy, with vanilla, golden raisin, sherry nuttiness, baking spice and a peppery grain backbone. The finish is very long, with spice, lemon curd, ginger and lingering oloroso sweetness.
