Rhum Agricole Élevé Sous Bois Sanblaj Papa Rouyo (70cl)

An agricole rum from Papa Rouyo, made in Martinique from pure sugar cane juice rather than molasses. Wood ageing gives soft, enveloping notes of vanilla, sweet spices and a light toasted hint, without masking the herbaceous character typical of the Caribbean terroir. It has a bright amber colour, with aromas ranging from fresh cane to deeper wood and leather notes. On the palate it is balanced, with a velvety structure and a persistent finish showing yellow-fleshed fruit and a hint of citrus. Best enjoyed neat, or with dark chocolate desserts and spiced dishes.
