Rittenhouse Rye is a straight rye whiskey made at Heaven Hill Distillery in Kentucky. It is bottled in bond at 100 proof, which is 50% ABV, in a 750ml bottle.
The mashbill is 51% rye, 35% corn and 14% malted barley. As a bottled-in-bond whiskey it is the product of a single distillation season at one distillery, and it has been aged for a minimum of four years in a bonded warehouse.
The nose brings dried fruit, toffee, sweet pepper and a little mint. The palate is thick and fruity, with cocoa, chocolate orange, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. The finish is long, with maple-like spice and dry oak.
