Rittenhouse Single Barrel Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey (75cl, 50%)

This is a single barrel Rittenhouse rye from Heaven Hill in Kentucky, bottled in bond at 100 proof. The barrel was filled in March 2019 and sat on the fourth floor of Rickhouse L, giving a whisky of about seven years old. Bottled in bond means a single distilling season, at least four years in a bonded warehouse and bottling at exactly 100 proof. This barrel departs from the usual Rittenhouse recipe, with more vanilla and less rye spice. It is creamy from start to finish, with baking spices arriving soon after. Vanilla and brown sugar lead the palate, the peppery, herbal side of the rye sits further back, and oak comes through in the finish.
