Rittenhouse Straight Rye Whisky Bottled-in-Bond 4 Year Old 100 Proof (70cl, 50%)

This is Rittenhouse Straight Rye, a four-year-old Bottled-in-Bond whisky from Heaven Hill in Kentucky. It was bottled in 2014 at 100 proof, or 50%, with no added colour and without chill-filtration. Rittenhouse has its roots in Pennsylvania and is now made at Heaven Hill. Rye spice leads, with a restrained corn sweetness behind it. On the nose there is dried fruit, toffee and sweet paprika. The palate brings cocoa, citrus, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla, and the long finish leaves a spicy, maple-like sweetness.
