Rombauer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon is a Napa Valley red and the first wine the Rombauer family made, when they founded the winery in St. Helena in 1980. It is bottled at 14.8% vol in a 75cl bottle.
The fruit comes from estate and grower vineyards across five areas: St. Helena, Calistoga, Oakville, Stags Leap District and Atlas Peak. In recent vintages the blend is about 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, aged for around 17 months in French oak, roughly 65% of it new.
The wine is deep, almost black, with black cherry, cassis, spice and mint on the nose. The palate is full, with blackcurrant, red cherry and blackberry, fine tannins and a long finish.
