This is a 20 year old single cask Highland single malt from Royal Brackla, distilled on 8th April 2003 and released in the Exceptional Cask Series. It matured first in a refill barrel and has been finished since 20th July 2021 in a Palo Cortado sherry cask.
The release is limited to 330 bottles and is bottled at 54.1% in a 70cl bottle. Palo Cortado is described as drier and more delicate than Oloroso in character, though close to it in weight and spice.
The nose is ripe apricot and creamy vanilla, like a crème brûlée topped with fruit, with fresh orange zest and roasted coffee.
