Royal Salute 21 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky first made in 1953 to mark the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Its name refers to the 21-gun salute. It is composed of Scotch whiskies aged for a minimum of 21 years, is crafted at Strathisla Distillery in Speyside, and is bottled at 40% ABV.
The nose offers sweet pear and citrus fruit with autumn florals, vanilla, dry oak and a subtle touch of sherry. On the palate come warm orange marmalade and fresh pear, then spice and hazelnut over a light smoky undertone. The finish is long, dry and slightly spicy, with a trace of smoke.
