Royal Salute 21 Years The Sapphire Flagon is a blended Scotch whisky bottled at 40% in a 70cl porcelain flagon. It was first launched on 2 June 1953 as a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on her coronation day.
The whisky is aged for 21 years in oak casks. The name comes from the 21 Gun Royal Salute, fired as a mark of respect for dignitaries.
The flagon's colour draws on the rubies, sapphires and emeralds set in the coronation crown. The flagons come in ruby, emerald and sapphire, and each bottle is numbered.
