This small batch Guyanese rum from Rum Nation's Rare Rums range was distilled in a traditional wooden pot still. After a long maturation it was finished in casks that previously held smoked Scotch whisky. It is bottled at 58.2% and only 1136 bottles were produced.
The nose shows agave and light smoke, a little like a good mezcal, alongside overripe pineapple and papaya, sweetness and mild spice. On the palate the peat is clear and dry, with sea salt and sour sweets, the oily weight typical of Guyanese rum and an elegant edge.
The finish is long, with eucalyptus and star anise that settle along the sides of the tongue.
