Russell's Reserve Rye Single Barrel (75cl, 52%)

A non-chill filtered single barrel Kentucky rye whiskey, made at the Wild Turkey Distillery under master distillers Jimmy and Eddie Russell. It is bottled at 52% in a 750ml bottle. The barrels are chosen by the Russells from the middle floors, three to five, of the distillery's rickhouses. The mashbill is 51% rye, 37% corn and 12% malted barley. Sweet caramel leads the nose, with earthy rye, a hint of dill, stewed red fruit, candied pineapple and charred oak. The palate opens with honey and vanilla before rye spice builds with allspice, clove and black pepper, then tobacco, gingerbread and almond cake. The finish is medium to long, with roasted oak, vanilla and a dry peppery warmth.
