Sagamore Spirit – Double Oak Rye Whiskey (75cl, 48.3%)

Sagamore Spirit Double Oak is a Maryland-style rye whiskey bottled at 48.3% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It spends four to five years in high-char new American oak, then a further 18 months in toasted wave-stave barrels, whose rippled staves give the whiskey more contact with the wood. Two rye mash bills are blended, one high in rye and one lower, and the whiskey is proofed with limestone-filtered water from the Sagamore Farm spring house. The brand describes a nose of baking spices, dried orange peel and warm cinnamon. The palate offers caramel and toasted coconut with hazelnut, pecan and vanilla, and the finish brings warm spice, honey, mild oak and faded fruit.
