This is a 10 year old straight rye whiskey from Sagamore Spirit's Reserve Series, a release honouring Maryland's distilling legacy. It comes in a 75cl bottle at 55.4% ABV (110.8 proof).
The whiskey matured for at least ten years in new charred American white oak. It blends two rye mash bills, one high-rye (95% rye, 5% malted barley) and one low-rye (52% rye, 43% corn, 5% malted barley). It was distilled in Indiana, then blended and finished in Baltimore.
The nose brings peach crumble, roasted nuts and molasses cookie. The palate balances sweetness and spice, with crème brûlée, floral honey and white pepper, and the finish is warm and lingering.
