Salcheto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2021

A Vino Nobile di Montepulciano made entirely from Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile) from the Salcheto vineyard, farmed organically and biodynamically. Yields are extremely limited, at roughly one bottle per vine. After fermentation in wooden vats, 70% of the wine ages in large botti and 30% in small barrels for 18 months, followed by a further six months after bottling. The wine is juicy and charming, with crisp notes of cherry and dark berries on both nose and palate, along with smoked tones from the barrels and mild spices. It finishes with great concentration and fullness, in the estate's usual delicate and harmonious style. Serve at 18-20°C with grilled meat, game, beef or lamb.
