San Leonardo Grappa Stravecchia (2L)

This is a Grappa Stravecchia made from the pomace of San Leonardo wine and distilled by Bruno Franceschini. It comes in a 2 litre bottle. It was distilled by direct steam in small discontinuous stills, then cold filtered and aged for 5 years in used barriques that once held San Leonardo wine. The idea came from Anselmo Guerrieri Gonzaga, after the success of the estate's white grappa. The colour is amber gold with mahogany reflections. The nose is rich, with fruit, fine spice and traces of wood. The palate is full, soft and warm without being invasive, and the aromatic finish is very long.
