Sangiovese Valdarno di Sopra DOC - Vigna dell'Impero - Tenuta Sette Ponti

Vigna dell'Impero is a red wine from Tenuta Sette Ponti, made from Sangiovese in Valdarno di Sopra DOC. The vines are over 80 years old, with hand harvesting and berry-by-berry selection. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks with about a month of skin maceration, followed by ageing in large casks of 15 and 25 hectolitres and 12 months in bottle. It is bottled unfiltered. The wine is deep ruby with garnet hints, with field flowers, red berries, undergrowth, humus, leather and tobacco on the nose, an imposing structure and evolved tannins.
