Savage & Cooke Second Glance American Whiskey (44%)

Savage & Cooke Second Glance is an American whiskey, the first release of a blend put together by Dave Phinney. He hand-selects each barrel from Kentucky, and the youngest whiskey in the blend is five years old. It was aged for at least five years in ex-Bourbon barrels, then finished in wine barrels from Phinney's Napa Valley Cabernet projects. It is reduced to 88 proof (44%) with water from his property in Alexander Valley, California. The nose brings maple wood, cardamom, buttery toast and black cherries. The palate is intense, with honey, caramel, hazelnut and baked dark fruit, and the finish is layered.
