Sazerac Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey bottled at 45% ABV in a 1.75L bottle. It is distilled and aged at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort for the Sazerac Company, using a low-rye mash bill.
The name comes from the Sazerac cocktail, first mixed at the Sazerac Coffee House on Royal Street in New Orleans in the mid-1800s.
The nose offers clove, vanilla, anise and pepper, with candied spice and citrus. The palate is thick and mouthwatering, with syrupy overripe Seville oranges and ground spices, and the finish is smooth with hints of liquorice.
