Secret Islay 15 Year Old is a single cask malt from Lagavulin, whose name does not appear on the label for trademark reasons. It was distilled in 2007, matured for 15 years in a sherry hogshead and bottled in 2023 by Acla da Fans at a cask strength of 52.3%, in a run of 90 bottles. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose combines iodine, lemon, smoke, raisins, dried fruit and sugared almonds, with some sherry. On the palate, sweet barley sugar meets slightly bitter peat, followed by sea water, vanilla, sweet fruit and soft smoke, in a creamy, full texture.
