Seelbach's Private Reserve 8 Year Old Cask Strength Bourbon Batch 1 (75cl, 59.1%)

Private Reserve 8 Year Old Batch 1 is the first release in Seelbach's independent-bottler reserve line: a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at cask strength, 59.15% ABV, in a 75cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no secondary finish. The blend joins two high-rye bourbons from two Bardstown distilleries, with mash bills of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley, and 74% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley. Both spent eight years in new charred oak, and the whisky was bottled in Jacksonville, Florida. Batch 1 ran to approximately 1,300 bottles. The nose is toasted coconut, spicy plums, pecans and black pepper. The palate adds toffee, black tea, cloves, dried fig and custard, and the finish brings toasted almonds, peach sun tea, long cedar box and aged tobacco.
