Shibui Pure Malt Whisky is a blended malt bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon, oloroso sherry and mizunara oak casks.
Mizunara is Japanese oak, and it adds an aromatic, sandalwood-forward character. Shibui is an independent company that sources Japanese-style blended malts, and its name comes from a Japanese idea of unobtrusive elegance.
The nose offers candied walnut, chocolate-covered raisins, maple syrup and soft malty cereal. The palate has amaretto biscuit, chocolate, coffee and hints of delicate spice.
