Shinobu – Pure Malt (70cl)

Shinobu Pure Malt is a Japanese single malt from the Shinobu distillery in Niigata prefecture, an area known for snow, rice and sake. Shinobu means "tolerance" in Japanese, and the distillery aims to hold the spirit of the Samurai in its whisky. The malt was matured first in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks, then in a Japanese Mizunara cask. It comes in a 70cl bottle. The nose has candied orange peel, toffee, sweet smoke and toasted hazelnuts. The palate is soft and fruity, and pepper and spice come through at the end.
