Shortcross Rye & Malt Irish Whiskey (70cl, 46%)

Shortcross Rye & Malt is an Irish whiskey from Rademon Estate Distillery in County Down, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. It appeared in March 2022 as the distillery's second whiskey release, after its first single malt. Malted rye and malted barley from Ireland are matured for at least five years in new, heavily charred Chinquapin oak casks and first-fill bourbon and Tennessee whiskey casks. Distillation, maturation and bottling all take place on the estate. The nose combines mild spice, orange peel and creamy caramel fudge. The palate offers sweet pickled ginger, fresh apricot and green apple, then dark honey. The finish is velvety and rich, with sweet marmalade, bold fudge and a little spice.
