Sierra Norte Purple Corn is a Mexican single barrel whisky made from a mash of 85% Oaxacan purple corn and 15% malted barley. It is aged for a minimum of 10 months in a single French oak cask and comes in a 70cl bottle.
Sierra Norte is a Mexican company that also makes the Scorpion mezcal.
The nose shows pepper, star anise and hazelnut. The palate is soft and lightly spiced, with apple, redcurrant, pomegranate and cranberry. The finish is of cloves and liquorice.
