A single malt from Glenrothes in Speyside, bottled by Signatory Vintage Scotch Whisky Company, which has been releasing whiskies from Scottish distilleries since 1988. This 1996 spent almost 22 years in ex-bourbon casks made of American white oak before it was bottled in a limited run of a few hundred bottles. Dry sweet fruit and spicy malt lead the nose, with walnut and oak. The palate is full-bodied with sweet chocolate, set against ginger, cinnamon and clove, and strawberry and rhubarb in the background. The finish brings roasted notes, fresh oak and sweet caramel.
