This is a Ledaig single malt from Signatory Vintage's Single Cask Finish series, distilled on the Isle of Mull in 2011. It is a limited single cask edition.
After nine years the whisky was finished for 40 months in a Bordeaux red wine cask, a long finishing period that sets it apart. It is bottled without chill filtration, in a 70cl bottle.
The nose brings campfire smoke, blackberry compote and aged leather, with iodine and crushed herbs behind. On the palate, earthy peat and sea salt meet blackcurrant, grilled plum and tannic red wine, followed by smoked bacon and cedar. The finish is long and drying, with peat embers and dry spice.
