This is a straight bourbon from the USA, aged for seven years in new charred American oak. It is made under the Smith & Wesson name, which the brand links to a tradition of craftsmanship dating to 1852.
The oak gives it a profile built around caramel, vanilla, toasted oak and brown sugar, with baking spice and roasted nuts behind them. It is described as full-bodied.
On the nose there is vanilla, caramel, toasted oak, maple syrup, roasted pecans and cinnamon, with leather and a little baking spice. The palate is smooth, with brown sugar, honey, dark fruit and black pepper. The finish is long and warming, with sweet oak and a gentle smokiness.
